Shoes: I have sized my shoes to a standard C width for women and D width for men. Unfortunately I am unable accommodate any other widths for the ready-to-wear options. I will be able to offer different widths in the future, but at this point if you need a different width, please check my Customization page. All my shoes are currently built on vintage men’s size lasts in standard whole and half sizes. If you are a woman you will want to refer to my to the conversion chart below. Regardless of gender if you are in doubt, go with the smaller size unless you want to be able to use an insole of your choice. In that case, go with the larger.

If you know my shoes are going to be too wide for you and still want to order some I would suggest avoiding any Oxford styles. Derby, Mary Jane and Monk styles or any of the sandals would be better choices.  If you have any questions about that, please contact me.

If you have different sized feet (this is more common than you probably know and is a free option), or would like a custom fit shoe, please see my Customization page.

Your shoes should fit snugly and comfortably from the moment you try them on. NOTE: Initially, your shoes will feel quite a bit stiffer and a bit tighter around the ball of the foot or over the instep than you might be used to, but with wear the leather sole will become more flexible, the insole will form to the bottom of the foot, and the upper leather will stretch slightly at any tight spot and become more supple all around. Please note that I use hard leather heel stiffeners in the toe and heel. The heel area will mold to your foot in time. However, the toe box will not. If that area is pinching, rubbing or uncomfortable you probably have the wrong size.

Sandals: Sandals are sized in standard US/Canadian Men’s and Women’s whole and half sizes. Easy peasy.

It will probably take a couple of days of walking around to start breaking your sandals in. Expect some adjustments as the sandal starts to form to your foot. Once they’re broken in you will find that the sole becomes much more flexible and the arch will form to fit your feet perfectly.

If your straps start out a bit tight, you can stretch them a little. Using a brush, a sponge, a washcloth or a paper towel, gently dab the offending strap with water until it begins to absorb. Put the sandals on and walk around the house until they feel right. Repeat with more dabbing if necessary. If you get them really sopping you might want to take them off at that point and let them dry before you wear them – you don’t want to stretch the straps too much!
